Getting Behind

The last week of August I was looking for a mindless knitting project to work on. I started this sweater with EZ's percentage system (updated by Meg) and gorgeous wool that I have had a long time. Nothing ever seemed to be the right project for this yarn and it just sat in my stash for years. This was the perfect yarn for a plain knit in the round sweater. I even wound all the yarn into nifty center pull skeins. Not even one round has been knitted since the first week or so of September. Colder weather is here....no sweater.

I love to start new projects. I loathe finishing old projects that have fallen to the side. When a new project catches my attention all others become UFOs. My thought is that maybe I would finish this sweater if I post a pic here. Now that group #19 is going and 17 will continue in January the sweater has been a faded memory. We'll see if it can tear me away from the postcards.

More fabric

Today I have mixed darker shades of the fabric dye. I cut 12 yards of pfd cotton into 1 yard pieces and soaked them in hot water. Now the fabric is soaking up all the glorious color. The little buckets are on the garage floor and the lighting in there is dark. I love mixing the dyes to make whatever color I want. This fabric will be used for my art quilts and for postcards. I have 24 cards due in this current swap and another swap starts in January.
I have some silk dupioni to be dyed that will become scarves for Christmas presents. Once I dye the silk the scarves will be pleated and the edges given a rolled hem. A quick and nice gift.

Journal Quilts 2006

The Journal Quilt project is by members of the online group QuiltArt. It was a great experience and maybe now that I put my toes in the water I will jump in and enjoy the water.

Swap # 19 already!?!?

I thought I had more down time to dye fabrics and sketch more ideas. So far I have only bright colors finished. I dyed the colors above in half yard pieces. I still need reds, browns and black. I have a large range of blue but since it is my current favorite I will probably add more anyway. Today I will dye the rest of the colors and get ready for this round.

Post cards

This post card swap is almost over. I will have the rest of my postcards mailed tomorrow. I have really had fun painting on fusible webbing. The top postcard has the painted and stamped fusible on top of a black and white print The bottom card has white cotton for the background. There is white organza fused to the top of both pieces. Both are embellished with free motion quilting. Thanks again to all of the members!

Art Gone Postal

These are postcards I have made for the group Art Gone Postal. This group has really changed the way I have been making my small art quilts. The 4"x6" format is just wonderful for trying out ideas. The best part of being a member is finding small works of art in the mailbox. A Huge Thank You to all the members of Art Gone Postal. You guys are truly inspirational.
